The agreement, in plain English
These terms are the rules of using Veta. If you create an account, you're agreeing to them.
We've tried to write them the way we'd want them written to us — clear, specific, and without hiding anything important in footnotes.
Your account
You must be 16 or older to create an account. Under 18, you'll need a parent or guardian's help.
You're responsible for keeping your password safe. If you think someone's accessed your account without permission, reach out via helloveta.com/contact with the topic set to ‘Security’.
One account per person, please. Households share via co-parent invites.
How you can use Veta
For your own pets, and for pets in your care (foster, co-parent, sitter).
You agree not to: reverse-engineer the app, abuse our infrastructure, share another person's records without permission, or use Veta to harass anyone.
We can suspend accounts that violate these rules. We'll tell you why, and give you a chance to respond.
What Veta is — and isn't
Veta is a pet-health record and decision-support tool. It is NOT a substitute for a veterinarian.
Triage answers are informational. For anything urgent — bleeding, seizures, collapse, difficulty breathing, poisoning — call your vet or the nearest emergency clinic immediately.
We explicitly label severity on every AI response, and we err on the side of 'call your vet' when we're uncertain.
Your content
You own every record, photo, note, and observation you add to Veta. It's your pet's story.
You grant us a limited, revocable license to store and display your content back to you (and to people you share with).
We don't use your content to train public AI models or sell it to third parties. Ever.
Paid plans
You can cancel anytime from settings; your plan stays active through the end of the billing period.
Refunds: we refund any annual plan within 30 days of renewal, no questions asked. Monthly plans aren't pro-rated on cancellation.
Price changes: we'll email you at least 60 days before any change, and we'll honor your current rate for at least 12 months.
Termination
You can delete your account anytime. Everything is purged within 30 days.
We can terminate accounts that violate these terms, don't pay, or after 24 months of inactivity. We'll always email you first and give you a chance to export.
Limits of our liability
Veta is provided 'as is.' We work hard to keep it available and accurate, but we can't guarantee perfection.
To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you've paid us in the prior 12 months (or $100, whichever is greater).
Nothing in these terms limits liability for gross negligence, fraud, or anything that can't be waived by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA.
Disputes go to the courts of New York County, NY — unless you're in a jurisdiction that guarantees you local courts, in which case, those apply.
Changes to these terms
We'll email you at least 30 days before any material change.
